Simon gave us all feedback on our work by doing a painting over. Here's the fixes i=I came up with using his feedback.

Ok I started my new workshiop this week with Simon Scales doing Environment concept for games. This week we need to deliver 10 concept sketches by monday. Im not too keen on any of them to be honest i can see it in my head i just can't get it to work in the thumbnails. I'm just going to keep trying =0)

More heads today but I was studying other tutorials/Artists & found some stuff on Planes of the face. So I'm trying to use this in my heads from now on as this seems to make it easier for me to understand the shadows & placement of the facial anatomy better!

Ok heads still loads of practice needed, this time i just took my time but not too long on each one.

Today I did hand studies no time limits but I just tried to go as fast as I could you can see a clear improvement across the page which is good. I'm not as good as I used to be so loads more practice but I'm happy I made a progression across the page.

Ok to speed stuff up I did 30 mins drawing gesture from photos at 40 seconds each I think i did ok. I found it hard but i picked it up quick as ive done this before it forces you to use fast shapes. I do get frustrated tho that you loose what the drawing looks like & proportion is even harder when you dont have time to think about it, but as usual practice makes perfect or close to it. =0)

Does this add to my 10000 hours? I don't know.
Either way I spent way too long on it for a quickie. It's just a copy from a fram from a trailer called GAIKING. I know there's a tut out there witht the same frame thats why i used it just so i knew where i was going kind of. It's not amazing but it's a start right?

Feel like i took my first step back today these look poo. I'm finding it mostly hard to get my brain to decied weather draw what i think is right compared to what i see. so the result is a mish mash of the two! I also need to spend less time on each one.

More progress I feel today. I've tried to stay away from the details of the face & try to get the figure & perspective right. All these drawings are from photo's so the perspective is already set so it's hard to get the camera perspective right. I do feel it helps me to think more about the figure in a strong perspective tho & forces me to push the perspective to make the figure look like it has alot more depth than it has.

Ok I'm back on it I'm fed up with the 3d industry dictateing how i work/live my life so I'm going to give this route another shot since I feel I enjoy it so much more! If you have any help please post i'd love to hear.
So most people of have heard the 10000hrs to be a pro lets start the count down & see if it's true i guess. However this isn't taking into account my life of drawring already so i should really be way ahead but I'm going to start at the begining.

Below is the best of this day not a great start but I'm already remembering some shapes. The hardest part is trying not to copy exactly what I see & get what I want from the gesture. They're all a bit too detailed for gesture too more flow less detail.

The Faces here were just some studies into drawing eyes since I was having problems in the drawings above. I really like the top left one though!

I haven't picked up a pencil in a while & me & Mandy (my fiencee) had some spare time so we decided to do a sketch when we felt like it. So here's the first of Dexter from the series Dexter.

This ones been going a while since I wasn't too sure if I was happy with the colour's it's another inspired/copy of my buddy Pascal's work the man is a genius with composition & colour, so thanks again mate.

Just had to try & match my buddy Pascal Campion's colours & it REALLY wasn't as easy as it looks. Pascal has some great talent in him, & I aim to be one day as inspirational as him. I had to change the composition a bit but I'm glad I did because that makes it more my own.

Tried to do a Mirrors edge theme today I found it quite hard to get so much detail in the whites maybe I'll give it another go when I'm a bit more accomplished with my IPod =0)

After with a bit of Photoshop but only on the levels ;0)

So yup I need to work on my contrast & tones really, but its a bit hard to get right when you turn your screen brightness down to save battery.

He uploaded a pic of this guy at one of the airports & I thought he was a good inspiration so I did a quick sketch. I gave him a kind of Steampunk feel so he was self sufficient to surf the net heh heh

Ok this is my first of many posts hopefully.

This blog is going to hold all my sketches of the day, so the idea is to have 2 sketches a day one done on the train or at work on my IPod using the Brushes app & one when I get in from work!

Also this will hold all the links for artists I check out each day for inspiration.
